My name is Jamil Allen. I’ve always been an active person, but a job and continued education put the “brakes” on all that. Years later when I wanted to get back in shape, I went to a local Boxing Gym. Surprisingly, it was at the Boxing Gym where I saw people taking yoga. “It’s a great warm-up before you get into your regular boxing training”, someone said. So I joined the early class for taking yoga. To my surprise, yoga helped to improve my stamina and recovery time. I began boxing at various tournaments and won numerous awards.
Hard Work and Dedication

Impressed with the growing improvements of my boxing workouts, I was encouraged by the Head Coach of a renowned Boxing Gym to enter the Annual Golden Gloves Tournament. I became Golden Gloves Champion in 2018. Looking to capture the title 2 years in a row, we found out there were no takers, no challengers. There was no competition this time around in my weight class (147 Lb Welterweight Division).
So coach explained to me how it works, “You can accept the 2019 Trophy and be Champion by default, or you can move up to fight in the Middleweight Division (150 -154 lbs)”. I chose the latter and fought well, but I came up short by a few points on the Score Cards.

Victory
Incredibly, just a few weeks later, I fought in another major tournament and became “Fight Night Champion of Champions”. I was awarded an impressive piece of hardware and added another spoil to my stockpile of other awards. In spite of my brief career in boxing, what I really wanted to do was stay in shape, and continue down an unbeaten path already started. I jokingly said, “I need all my Brain Cells for my business ventures.” lol
Looking back, yoga improved many parts of my athleticism that was crucial to my performance in the ring. I still use it in my exercise workouts today. Had I continued with a Boxing Career, yoga would have definitely remained a hybrid part of my training. In fact, I was so impressed with the results I got from it, I created this website to share a small bit of my experience but focus a bit more on the yoga factor.
